The Republic of Adygeya

A well-known Silky way was across the territory of ancient Circassiya. The Circassian dynasty Marmeluke reined in Egypt and Syria in 1382-1517. Circassia was the center of military activity on North Caucasus in 1859-1864.

Adygeya is one of the largest tourist centers in North Caucasus now. Historical, cultural and natural sights attract tourist any season.

The significant part of the Caucasus state natural reserve is situated in the region. Natural resources of the republic are on the list of the World natural heritage. More than one thirds of the territory is under special state protection.

No wonder, the first Russian hang-gliding championship took palce in the Republic of Adygeya in 1991. The Caucasus Mountains are very good for alpinism. Moreover, you can take a moutain-bike tour.

Comfy hotels and excellent roads have become essential elements of the republic. Toursim has been developing in the region very dynamically. Favourable climate and developed infrastructure make the region an attractive place to visit.

Adygeya is plentiful with forest and watery resources. The considerable part of Adygeyas forest with beech and oak is concentrated in submontane and mountain districts. The Adygejsk city is the second largest city (after Majkop) and a notable place of the region. It is situated on the bank of Krasnodarsky water storage. Though the population is less than 13 thousand people, wide prospects go together with huge living houses.

The republic of Adygeya is famous for archaeological discoveries. The dolmeny-megalith (exequial stony buildings) is world-known. The dolmen culture traces have remained in several countries of the world. In Russia it is on the Adygeya territory.
